Keira Knightly is a human hanger. That is the only way I can describe this. When I first looked at this picture, I swore I had somehow entered a boutique and was about to flag down the clerk to ask for that gorgeous dress in my size. Then realized there was a head on that hanger and it belonged to Keira Knightly. It also struck me that I was not in a boutique, but that this was actually a red carpet picture.
Oh my stars. Eat something, Keira. Anything. Please.
This is the same actress that says magazine “airbrush the *%$&” out of out of her, but I have seen this image in many places on the web and this picture is not doctored. Girlfriend is frail. I think what she meant when she discussed her extreme airbrushing was that they airbrush some weight on her, not the other way.
She looks deliriously happy in this picture, but something is telling me she is just delirious (and hungry). Keira, please get some help. This look just isn’t natural.
On a more positive note, the dress is gorgeous. It would look even better if it were filled out a bit more. Don’t you think?

Isn’t it time to leave Miss South Carolina alone and let the poor girl get on with her life? (Answer: no).
To help us all understand just what the teenage beauty pageant contestant was trying to say, late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel gives us a complete breakdown via chalkboard. He explains what she meant by “U.S. Americans,” why the U.S. has to help the U.S., and says he knew a guy once who didn’t own a map. Such as.
As a bonus, Kimmel explains why high school is like prison, with its beatings, bad food, and forced showering with other men. Full video after the jump!

I know, I know. It’s old news to most of you die hard BSG fans, but in case you haven’t heard, Kevin Smith is no longer going to be directing an episode of Battlestar Galactica as we mentioned earlier.
The initial news we got was via a message board post left on Sci-Fi’s forums by the wife of executive producer and creator Ron Moore (thanks commenter Akbar!) Given that there were some people less than thrilled to hear of Smith’s involvement with the show, I wanted to get confirmation myself first in case of shenanigans, thus the wait. Unfortunately my contacts couldn’t get official word themselves, most likely because even Moore himself has come out to say it’s not that big of news, something that “only registers on message boards.”
UPDATE: Smith talks about it on his own blog.

A quick history for those who don’t know who Edward Gorey is: he was an artist and writer best known for his stark, macabre drawings, often featuring children. Perhaps his best-known work is Gashlycrumb Tinies, the story of twenty-six children (each one representing a letter of the alphabet) who each meet a grisly demise (”R is for Rhoda consumed by a fire,” etc).

Cynthia Turner’s Cynopsis reveals that FOX’s hit series 24 has just recruited two actors to join the cast in the upcoming season of the series. Enterprise’s John Billingsley is set to join in a recurring capacity. TV Guide mentions that his role is that of “Latham.” The two sources do not have more details about this role right now. TV fans may remember Billingsley from his portrayal of Egan Foote on ABC’s short-lived The Nine. This past year, he also guest starred in various TV series such as NCIS, Ghost Whisperer, and Standoff.

I have absolutely no idea why, but I’m kind of into Eddie Murphy’s new family comedy called NowhereLand. I should be having flashbacks to the disappointing roles he’s taken on over the last decade. I could go on and on about how much of a bummer it was that they could make Pirates of the Caribbean into a great series, and then flounder so pitifully with my favorite ride — The Haunted Mansion. But forget Disney. NowhereLand is about a man named Evan who solves his work problems by exploring the fantasy world of his six-year-old daughter. It’s the sort of flick that could be really good if it has some smarts, and I’m hoping that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is right when he says this is a role Murphy hasn’t played before. I think Eddie not becoming five million different characters would be a good first step. However, I’m probably putting too many positive expectations on this project.
But on to the new castmates that The Hollywood Reporter just announced. Murphy and Thomas Haden Church (who will play his ruthless co-worker) are being joined by Brown Sugar’s Nicole Ari Parker, DeRay Davis from License to Wed and ol’ Beverly Hills Cop alum Ronny Cox. Parker will play Evan’s estranged wife, who can’t understand his preoccupation with their daughter’s imaginary world, Davis plays his best friend — “a therapist who calls himself the Man Whisperer and believes that all Evan needs to overcome his troubles is a good cry,” and finally Cox plays the boss of a capital fund group who thinks Evan is doing some insider trading, but doesn’t care as long as it works. Now all we need is the young tyke and we’ll be set.

If the casting news on He’s Just Not That Into You keeps up like this, I imagine even the passersby in the flick will be big names. To recap: the flick comes from Sex and the City writers Greg Behrendt and Liz Tucillo’s book about how most male excuses and laziness are signs that he’s just not interested. The film already boasts Drew Barrymore as a star and producer, along with Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Connolly, Justin Long and Ginnifer Goodwin. As if that wasn’t enough, now we’ve got The Hollywood Reporter adding Ben Affleck and yes, wait for it — Kris. Kristofferson.
The comedy will include a number of interconnecting story arcs, and Affleck is coming into Aniston’s, playing her boyfriend — “a man whose unwillingness to commit to marriage puts great strain on their relationship.” Perhaps the guy remembered when he was a Man About Town and got cheated on. As for Kris, he is, oh yes, playing Jennifer’s dad. I’m not sure I can see it, but I’ll bite. I assume that he got this role after starring in Aniston’s short directorial debut — Room 10, which I told you about a few months ago — because really, while not every film on Kris’ resume is super-awesome, romcoms usually aren’t his thing. Who will be next?
