Here’s what’s happening in the world of movie news today:
- UPDATE: Columbia Pictures has announced that The White Stripes’ Jack White will team with Alicia Keys on the Quantum of Solace theme song. Said song will be called “Another Way to Die,” and it will be the first duet in Bond soundtrack history.
- UPDATE: Universal lands Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards — they will partner with The Weinstein Co. on the WWII flick. The writer-director has already met with Brad Pitt about playing a role, and production is scheduled to start this fall. (Variety)
- UPDATE: MTV has confirmed through IDW Publishing that “The Fallen” in the Transformers 2 title does indeed refer to the main villain in the film.
- Holy Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince trailer! It debuts online today! Prior to its arrival, USA Today has posted a photo (see above) of the young Tom Riddle (aka young Voldemort). Kid looks a tad creepy … what do you think? We’ll update this post as soon as the trailer arrives online.
- Tim Burton’s making an Alice in Wonderland movie, so now we have to figure out which role Johnny Depp will play. In our minds, there’s only one — and Celeb Edge says Depp has been pegged to star as the Mad Hatter. Let me guess: Depp’s performance will come with a side order of freaky and creepy?
- Jennifer Lopez will star in the romantic comedy The Governess, where she’ll play a thief who poses as the nanny of three unruly children in order to rob a bank. The romance comes into play when she begins to fall for the widowed father of the three kids. What to do: Rob a bank for millions … or get involved with a dude who has three annoying kids? Oh, the tough decisions these characters must face … (Variety)

IGN has thrown up the brand spanking new Friday the 13th poster (see to the right; click to enlarge). You can also read all about that particular Comic Con panel over here. If we’re lucky, this will be the one where Jason finally shares his feelings through talking and not physical harm …
More after the jump …

Lewis Black’s second season of Root of All Evil is back next week. And the topics on the premiere are close to my heart: Ultimate Fighting Vs. Bloggers. Because I am both a blogger and an ultimate fighter (okay, maybe not the second one), I will definitely be tuning in to see Patton Oswalt and Andrew Daly argue the case for each and hear Black’s final judgment on which is more evil. I have a sinking feeling it’s going to be bloggers.
The show is also getting a few new comedians. Jerry Minor and Andrea Savage will join Daly, Oswalt, Greg Giraldo, Andy Kindler, Kathleen Madigan, and Paul F.Thompkins. And here’s some of the other topics: Steriods Vs. Boob Jobs, Disney Vs. Scientology, Strip Clubs Vs. Sororities, Olympic Games Vs. Drinking Games, NRA Vs. PETA, and The Hills Vs. Rocket Scientists. I think the Disney Vs. Scientology episode is going to be especially funny. Which debate do you think will be good?
Root of All Evil premieres on July 30th at 10:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

Indeed she will, but she’ll have some help. In a change born of trying to keep current with the state of television today, the Emmys will be hosted by the five nominees in the Reality TV Host category. Klum will share hosting duties with Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, Howie Mandel, and (the man that should win it all) Tom Bergeron.
It’s a great idea. The standard formula of these shows is something just asking to be shaken up. Klum is probably the biggest question mark here, for the simple fact that she has Tim Gunn to handle much of the unscripted action. I’ll be curious to see how she handles the role, and I’m confident that the rest of the nominees will be just fine. The linked article also has a great stat. The average audience of the five nominated shows has been as high as 70 million. Jiminy. The broadcast takes place Sept. 21st, on ABC.

When it comes to science fiction conventions you can always tell the difference between those panelists who are newbies and those who are veterans. As soon as the panelists for Stargate Atlantis took their seats you could tell that they were all seasoned veterans of the convention universe. They were relaxed, had fun with each other, and had fun with the audience. Combine those elements together and it makes for an entertaining hour and gives you a sense that they are talking to you…despite the 4000 other people in the hall.
There weren’t many new bits of information that came from this panel that hadn’t already been mentioned during the Robert Picardo phone conference a few weeks ago. Yet, there were still some interesting pieces of information about the stars, the writers, and some behind the scenes items. You can read some of these after the jump.

(S05E02) First of all, I thought last week lacked a fancy new intro because the episode was packed the rafters with new season goodness. However, since we got nothing again, I suppose this was just another instance of Bravo not caring enough to give the show the love it deserved.
Secondly, I have decided that I don’t have a favorite this season, just some people that annoy me less than others. Everyone is so self-conscious this time around. I pray that Blayne leaves the show soon, just so this “-licious” craze he is attempting to jump-start will die a quick death. Plus, I’m tired of adjusting my display to make sense of his tan.
