There are some big casting rumors circling two big #4 features in the works:

Will Dylan Baker finally have a chance to play the Lizard in Spider-Man 4? Looks that way, as during a Q&A for the new horror flick Trick ‘R Treat in New York City the other night, Baker said that he’d just gotten a call regarding Spider-Man 4 and that he’s definitely onboard for the fourth installment. Of course, considering the fact that Baker played the unassuming Dr. Curt Connors in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, there’s a chance he’ll be playing the same boring, no-nothing role for a third time. But since this will most likely be the last film for Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst — thereby making it the last film within this particular Spider-Man universe — then I can’t see why they wouldn’t finally move forward with Baker as the Lizard.

David LettermanA former female writer at Late Night with David Letterman has dropped a bombshell in a Vanity Fair article in which she complained of a “hostile work environment for women”. While he didn’t hit on the writer, she claims that she noticed Letterman paid “extra attention” to her and had a reputation of sleeping with female workers.

While this could be a legitimate complaint, I find it somewhat suspicious that she waited until now to write about this. It could be a case of jumping on a bandwagon or she may have been afraid to say anything for fear of repercussions (as in “you’ll never work in this industry again”).

There is also that fine line between taking advantage of a subordinate and flirting. Not having been there, it’s difficult to access what the case actually was. Mind you, flirting with subordinates at the workplace is probably not a good idea in this litigious society, but he was likely so busy with the show, how else was he going to meet single women? Match.com?

good morning! i’m back home - i had an excellent time - the best part of the whole quick trip was seeing a bunch of my friends - we had such a blast together! if you ask if i’d go back to jamaica … i would have to say no but the the beach down there was completely awesome - i love being in the ocean! anyways it looks like pamela anderson is still up to her tricks - playing the modesty card just like always … she was performing and learning tricks at a snowboarding event up in malibu this past weekend - and of course her panties had to make a guest appearance - in front of families and children - look at the guy and the kid sitting behind her - their eyes are definitely zoned in - hoping to sneak a peek! (even though everyone and their mom has seen ms. anderson totally naked - there’s nothing new to reveal) at least she’s wearing something other than all white … however those blue stripes aren’t very flattering at all! oh when will that pam learn? popbytes over & out for now … xoxo

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, many of you feel my client Gerard Butler should be placed on movie star probation. In the light of new evidence, I plan to petition for a retrial as it would appear that Mr. Butler has abandoned romantic comedies in order to accept a role from England’s greatest playwright. Yes, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Butler is taking a role in William Shakespeare’s Coriolanus alongside Ralph Fiennes, William Hurt, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jessica Chastain. Fiennes will be playing the lead and will be helming the adaptation in his directing debut, which was adapted by John Logan.

On a very awkward appearance on Baltimore WJX, Butler revealed that his next role would be in Fiennes’ adaptation, and he described it as “a passion project” for them both. He didn’t specify which role he would be taking on, but I’m hoping it’s Coriolanus’ sworn enemy, Tullus Aufidius. He always looks so good with blood on him, and it would be glorious to watch him fight Fiennes.

Of course, this is Shakespeare and financing could be difficult even with Fiennes at the helm, though a solid cast should help with that. It was one of the projects at the IFF this September, and I hope they found someone to give them some money. Not only does the world always need more Shakespeare, but Butler needs a meaty role now. Seeing as it was Steven Berkoff’s Coriolanus was what ushered Butler into acting, I can think of no better production (save perhaps The Scottish Play) that could wrangle him another plea bargain.

Over three years after word hit that Ridley Scott was going to dive into the world of Gucci, the project is finally picking up steam. And not just any steam — femme fatale flavor with Angelina Jolie. Variety reports that the actress, who is already circling The Tourist, is now talking with Scott about whether she should jump on the Gucci train to play Patrizia Reggiano. That’s Maurizio Gucci’s ex, the woman who got a 29-year sentence for plotting his murder.

Fox 2000 wants to get things going next year, so the push is on. The script has been rewritten, given priority by the studio, and will focus on ” the glamorous days of the Gucci family dynasty in the 1970s and ’80s, when the family was selling $500 million in product annually.” It will look into the familial fights, power struggles, and how the man was “gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.”

Of course, having the femme fatale is good and all, especially after her fashion-centric stint in Gia all those years ago, but you can’t have the murderess without the murderee. Scott hasn’t signed anyone yet, although he has broached the topic with Leonardo DiCaprio. I guess that could work, but taking a look at this mug, I’m thinking Matt Damon will be asked next.

What do you think of this whole production and what actor would you thrust into the world of fashion and untimely death?

Have you seen the new ads for the new TNT comedy-drama Men of a Certain Age? It stars Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher as husbands and dads dealing with middle age. It has been announced that Robert Loggia will play Romano’s dad on the show. He’s one of those actors that’s great in everything he does and it’s cool to have him in this show and in that recent Apple ad.

But instead of that ad I’ll post this classic from the early 90s. If you say so Mr. Loggia!
