Proving that some catfights really do have nine lives, fading supermodel Janice Dickinson has once again dissed her former “America’s Next Top Model” boss Tyra Banks by declaring that she looks like “a man”!
Dickinson was unceremoniously canned from her role as ANTM’s Simon Cowell-esque bitchy judge back in 2004, and clearly time doesn’t heal all wounds:
She’s now telling celebrity Web site Starpulse that she never understood Banks’ supermodel appeal:
“She’s huge. She’s a big woman. I used to think she was a man. I used to look at her and think, ‘Something’s not right here.’”
Meow! StyleList is pretty sure the surgery-obsessed Dickinson has not crossed paths with the newly slim version of Banks, who went public with her 30-pound weight loss on her CW talk show last year.
While Dickinson’s catty comments may seem extreme, she isn’t the only one upset by the way the long-running beauty competition has been switching up staff.
Model Paulina Porizkova publicly lamented on the Huffington Post that the show dismissed her as a judge on the eve of her 44th birthday. Ouch! Banks blamed her ouster on the economy.
When ANTM’s Cycle 14 begins March 10, fashion legend and Vogue Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley will join Banks and fashion photographer Nigel Barker at the judges’ table, while veteran judge and runway coach Miss J. Alexander is set to take on a mentoring role with the aspiring models.
Let’s hope everyone exhibits some, um, model behavior and gets along.

There are some strict CanCon (Canadian Content) laws up here in Canada, one of them being that for any homegrown, publicly funded film, one of the two stars must be a Canadian actor. It makes sense for a country continually struggling to have a national identity while snuggled against the U.S. But now the CBC reports that Michel Roy, head of Telefilm Canada, is trying to get the government to change their foreign star restrictions.
He thinks that adding more U.S. stars into the mix will help Canadian movies gain bigger box office draws, since in English Canada, only one percent of the box office receipts came from maple leaf films. “We need to make changes — in order to make those changes we will have to dare to do new things that at times might shock some people,” Roy says. While he recognizes that some residents won’t want their tax dollars going to U.S. stars, he thinks this will give Canadian talent more exposure.
But it’s not only taxpayers who won’t be happy, ACTRA (Canada’s actor’s union) executive director Stephen Waddell told The Hollywood Reporter: “”Using Canadian taxpayers’ money to finance Hollywood is not only wrong, it’s an old idea that’s been tried and proven to fail repeatedly since the ’70s.” He also mentions just how many Hollywood stars are Canadian (which would combine star power and rule-abiding).
Me, I wonder what happens when the stars want big bucks, and the films still do little business due to lack of exposure? Look at 2009’s releases. There’s some good films in there, but they’re mainly very small productions. Angelina wouldn’t be circling these puppies.
Thoughts? Any filmmakers or actors happy with this possible twist?

So Jay Leno is coming back to ‘The Tonight Show’ on Monday, and he has some big guests lined up, including Olympic athletes and Sarah Palin. David Letterman will be back on Monday with new episodes too, and he’s planning some big guests as well. One of those guests will be Jerry Seinfeld.
Now, this isn’t completely surprising, since Seinfeld’s new show ‘The Marriage Ref’ premieres on NBC March 4 and he’s doing press for it and he’s a regular guest on ‘The Late Show,’ but the timing is a little interesting. Seinfeld is a good friend of Leno’s and was even his first guest on the doomed 10pm show. Seinfeld has even sided with Leno in various interviews. But he’s going to be on Leno’s rival the very first week Leno returns, which will be interesting. Joel tells me that Letterman usually takes off the first week of March but this year he isn’t because of Leno’s return.
In the next couple of weeks Letterman will also have Tom Brokaw and Mitt Romney.

Do you remember in the prehistoric days of no Internet and nothing digital? Back then, if you liked the songs you heard on MTV or — gad! ‘The Monkees’ — you would have to wait months and months for the single or album to show up in the record store. Yes, those were the days of records, even if they were tapes or 8-tracks.
Anyway, in today’s wonderful world of instant gratification and super-technology, waiting is a thing of the past. Last night’s performances from ‘American Idol’s’ Top Twelve ladies will be on Apple iTunes today! Last night if you were watching and loved Lilly Scott’s version of The Beatles ‘Fixin’ A Hole,’ you could’ve pre-ordered it and it would be downloaded to your computer today.

It’s always refreshing to see a showbiz vet indulge in a passion project that’s actually entertaining, informative and funnier than anything he’s ever done. That’s exactly what ‘Web Soup’ host Chris Hardwick is doing with his latest venture, The Nerdist Podcast.
Hardwick and ‘Web Soup’ writer Jonah Ray launched the free-form podcast earlier this month. So far, they’ve posted three hilarious episodes featuring candid conversations with TV comedians Drew Carey, Tom Lennon (‘The State’, ‘Reno 911!’), and Adam Corolla.
The show is worth a listen for anyone looking for a good laugh and some entertaining and honest conversations about life in the entertainment business.
Nerdist give Hardwick’s famous friends a comfortable venue to let loose on countless topics and to and tell personal stories you’ll probably never hear anywhere else. (Most shows are recorded at the guest’s home.)

Carey Mulligan goes long and short in . Photo: Dave M. Benett, Getty Images
Whatever actress Carey Mulligan decides to wear to this year’s Oscars the fashion police better go easy on her.
Though the newly blonde Brit is a fresh fixture on the red carpet, she has shown style courage well beyond her years by flat out rejecting Anna Wintour’s fashion advice.
Mulligan, who is nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in “An Education,” tells People StyleWatch that the revered Vogue editor suggested she wear something short to the Oscars.
Mulligan reportedly told Wintour that she didn’t need any dress tutoring. “I was like ‘No, that wasn’t what I was thinking when I was six-years-old.’”
Ahhhh, we love a girl who has her Oscar attire figured out by the first grade.
The young starlet didn’t say exactly what kind of short frock Wintour recommended, but we can imagine that the editrix had a sleek, couture, best-dressed list number in mind. After all, Mulligan is a true gamine petite and too much dress might overwhelm her small frame.
That said, we can already hear the “what-was-she-thinking?” tongue-lashing fashion pundits would dish out the minute the ingenue stepped onto the red carpet in an above-the-knee dress. Cue Joan Rivers: “Carey, dear, did you get lost on your way to the Grammys?”
We’re pretty sure, however, that Mulligan is not, um, short on designer offers. And while some British critics lamented her decision not to wear a homegrown designer to this recent BAFTA awards, most raved about her sweeping black and white patterned dress (above) by French designer Vionnet.
Meanwhile, read about the alleged influence Anna Wintour had over model Maggie Rizer’s hair color.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Kevin James. Last year, he moved from mall cops to zookeepers, and then stayed relatively silent on the cinematic front. But now he’s getting a new comedic twist. According to Deadline Hollywood, Ron Howard is setting up a new comedy about infidelity over at Universal Pictures, and James will star alongside Vince Vaughn.
Written by Allan Loeb and slated to be Ron Howard’s next directorial feature (his last being last year’s Angels & Demons), the film will focus on best friends and business partners — enter Vaughn and James — whose relationship is tested by one of those pesky tell-or-not-tell scenarios. Vaughn see’s James’ wife with another man, and has to decide whether or not he’ll tell. Deadline says the project is untitled, but previous reports have labeled the feature Your Cheating Heart.
While everyone seems to be salivating over every Arrested Development tidbit, I’m much more interested in the possibility of that great humor transferring over into Howard’s other projects. James and Vaughn suggest this will be nothing but a goofy comedy, but considering Howard’s involvement with the beloved cult series, and that he hasn’t shot a comedy since 1999’s EdTV, I’m hoping for a little smart humor. Is that possible, and can James deliver it?

Alexa Chung with her Madewell models. Photo: Astrid Stawiarz, Getty Images
“The short shorts are a bit tricky, aren’t they?” Alexa Chung wondered aloud when talking to StyleList at the debut of her new collection for Madewell. Tricky or not, the line is chock-full of denim hot pants.
Chung told us that the collaboration came about simply because she was asked. “I really love the brand and actually wear it, so it seemed like an easy-peasy choice,” says the stylish Brit, who is also a fan of Madewell’s parent company, J.Crew.
What was the DJ-turned-designer’s inspiration? Both a “Pamela Des Barres ‘I’m with the band,’” groupie vibe and a 1960’s schoolgirl touch. “Aside from the hot pants, I think you can sort of mix and match everything else with your wardrobe,” said Alexa. “That was kind of important to me.”
Chung’s Madewell gig left her with little time to attend Fashion Week. Among her favorite New York designers are Alexander Wang, whose designs she describes as being “relaxed and cool,” and Phillip Lim. “The brilliant thing about [Lim] is that everything he does is quite practical.”

Garner’s necklace. Photos: Courtesy of Cartier/Splash News
Q. Jennifer Garner has a really simple gold necklace with a twist in the middle. Who makes it and where can I find it? Thanks!
A. Jennifer Garner has been seen around Hollywood wearing a simple white gold necklace with two twisted gold bars in the center. We tracked down the piece, and it’s called the Etrelaces Necklace from the new Cartier Collection “les must.”
The 18-karat white gold necklace retails for $1,695, and is a great everyday item thanks to its simplicity. Wear it with jeans and a t-shirt, or with something dressier, like a black blazer or v-neck dress. This is one investment that will certainly pay off — a gold necklace will never lose its value, and if you wear it as much as Garner wears hers, it will quickly become a go-to favorite.
