 …three Zachs for viewing.
Perhaps it’s just coincidence, but right now our TV world has a trio of superb young actors in very different programs and they’re all named Zach. Coincidence or the fact that the year they were born, Zachary was a really popular name for baby boys? Whatever, the bottom line is that Zach Braff, Zachary Levi, and Zachary Quinto are terrific and Scrubs, Chuck and Heroes, respectively, wouldn’t be the same without them.
What’s really interesting about these three Zachs, beside the fact that they all share the same first name, is that they could probably all play each other’s roles — even though it’s hard to imagine Braff or Levi as evil, they’re good enough to do it. And Zachary Quinto has done the nerdy, computer guy when he was on 24.
It’s interesting, but if you squint a little and tilt your head, they all could look like they’re brothers. However, while the Three Zs may pass as the Three Amigos if you put them in sombreros, they are definitely making the TV world a much happier landscape.

Well, we need to thank the Duggar family once again for saving the human race. Michelle Duggar, previous mother of 17 children and current star of TLC’s 17 Kids and Counting, has given birth to her 18th child. Lucky for us it’s another girl who, many decades from now, will help replenish the population after the ice caps melt.
Jordan-Grace Makiya Duggar entered this world earlier this week, via C-section, at a healthy 7 pounds, 3 ounces. She was due in early January, but the baby’s health was at risk due to her being transverse in the womb. Jordan-Grace now joins her seven sisters and 10 brothers (with names all starting with a ‘J’) in keeping the world population safe after the inevitable alien invasion that will probably wipe half of us out.
By the way, if you can’t wait until next year to see the birth of Jordyn-Grace, you’ll be happy to know that TLC will be airing a special on the baby’s arrival soon. Very soon. As soon as next Monday, actually. 17 Kids and Counting: And Baby Makes 18 will air Monday at 9:00 pm on the network.

Since I’m still new enough at TV Squad not to exist on the “Meet the TV Squad” page, this is my first Festivus. It’s nice to be able to dig deep into my heart for all of my TV wishes in hopes that some internet fairy will grant them and make the television landscape just a little bit more awesome… for me, at least.
Without further ado, here is what I want for Festivus:
- Christina Hendricks and the rest of the Mad Men cast should guest-star on more shows. Ever since I started watching Mad Men, I’ve noticed Hendricks popping up places. She’s on an episode of Without a Trace here, an old episode of Cold Case there… I love me some Joan Holloway and Mad Men isn’t returning soon enough. I loved seeing Jon Hamm host SNL, and I’m super excited about his upcoming guest stint on 30 Rock. More please!

Has the sour economy got your down? Does the threat of impending financial collapse keep you from getting your eight hours each night? Do you constantly worry about having to give up your home, your children to slave traders and your wife to a wealthy sheik who was willing to buy her because she has “good strong feet”?
Don’t worry. Television is on the way.
Shield star Michael Chiklis is developing a dramatic series set in the ever-so-slowly collapsing financial world.

Last night, Scarlett Johansson blew her nose on Jay Leno’s show. Today, it’s for sale. What came out of it, I mean, not the nose itself.
Johansson has put the tissue and its, um, contents on eBay to raise money for a charity she supports, USA Harvest. Johansson says that she got a cold from Samuel L. Jackson, one of her costars in the new movie The Spirit, which opens on Christmas and looks crazy as hell.
Isn’t there some sort of rule on eBay that can’t sell bodily fluids or body parts or anything like that? Doesn’t sound like the most sanitary thing to buy and ship cross country and store in your home, even if she did put it in a sandwich bag. This could be the worst trend to hit the world of celebrity in years. I don’t want to own Danny DeVito’s toenails or Alyson Hannigan’s earwax or Rainn Wilson’s tears.

Oh, Festivus, Oh, Festivus, the holiday for TV fans. How exciting that once a year we can close our eyes, click our heels and make our wishes for the magical ways television can be made better in the year to come. Still, there are more than a few changes that I think need to be made to make TV better … not to say that it’s bad. It just that everything can be better.
This is a great opportunity to get a little Scrooge-y and vent about what I want to see corrected/improved/altered in TV in 2009. Is it wrong that I hope the bigwigs at the networks and cable companies are surfing the net and take my grievances to heart? Is it wrong that I still believe they care about what viewers think? Yeah, probably, but here’s my wish list anyway:

A legendary actor in the television industry, nay, the entertainment industry has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Peter Falk’s daughter, Catherine, filed for conservatorship of her father’s affairs. She claims the actor’s condition has gotten so bad that he “requires full-time custodial care for his health and safety.”
So far the family hasn’t released an official statement confirming the daughter’s claims and nothing has been confirmed or denied on the actor’s official website. Either way, everyone here at TV Squad wishes him and his family all the best.

Every year, we at the Squad put together our lists of what we want for Festivus. Most of it has to deal with what we want to see happen to our favorite shows. I try to go for the gold every year, however; I wish for certain phone numbers to make their way into my cell phone’s speed dial. So far, though, I’m striking out big time. However, I have met all three of my desired phone pals (Anna Friel, America Ferrara, Sarah Chalke) in my various reporting travels. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
Anyway, here’s my wish list for 2008:
- Some way to record and watch Big Bang / HIMYM, Chuck, and House (all airing at the same time starting in January) so I don’t have to resort to watching one of them on my laptop.
- Speaking of Mother, please let them end the season with a bang. And please keep Britney as far away from the set as possible.
- More web series as well-written and funny as Dr. Horrible and Children’s Hospital.
